Slideshow Magic is an early version of a shared birthday photo slideshow. Here’s how sharing works today.

Who can see a celebration?

Anyone with its invite or slideshow link can view the celebration and its visible photos, including names and messages. Anyone with the invite can upload while the host keeps uploads open. Links are long and unlisted, but they can be forwarded. Only share them with people you want to invite.

What do we store?

Hosts sign in with an email address and a short-lived code. We store account details, event details, resized photos, and the names and notes contributors choose to include. Login sessions use a necessary browser cookie. Your guest name is saved in this browser to make the next upload easier.

Photo handling

Photos are resized and converted to JPEG, with embedded metadata removed. Uploads are stored in private Vercel Blob storage and served through the celebration’s link. Neon stores account and event records; Resend delivers login codes. These services process data needed to operate the app.

Be thoughtful about what you share

Upload only photos you have permission to share. Ask before sharing sensitive photos or photos of children. Don’t upload private documents, harmful content, or photos that someone would not want shown at the party.

Host controls and deletion

Hosts can hide photos from guest views and close new submissions. Hiding a photo does not delete it. Hosts can permanently delete their whole celebration and its stored photos from the slideshow settings. Other guests may already have saved photos or an exported video; deleting the celebration cannot remove those copies.

Keeping the memories

MP4 exports are created on your device. Keep the tab open while the video is being made. This early version has no promised storage period, so download memories you want to keep.
